1. Connecting Finder to an Engine

This page provides you with details about how to connect NEXThink Finder to NEXThink Engine

1.1. Creation of the connection profile

Launch NEXThink Finder, then select File then Connect in the menu bar. A "Connect to NEXThink Engine" window appears, in which you can create the connection profile.

Establish a new connection to a running NEXThink Engine by clicking on the Create new button (bottom right hand corner of the "Connect to NEXThink Engine" window).

  • finder_connect_dialog.png

Enter the required information:

  • A session name
  • The engine IP address or name and used TCP port (999 on a default install)
  • A User name and a password

Note: refer to your Nexthink administrator to obtain credentials (username and password). Check also the configured TCP port# to connect to the engine

Before connecting, the Save session button can be used to save the session context for a future use.

Then click on Connect button to establish the connection.

Notes:

  1. After a fresh install only the admin account is pre-configured to access the Engine

  2. If you haven't previously installed and run Finder, a Certificate window will pop up when you first log in to Engine. Click on "Yes" to save the certificate as it enables secure communication with Engine.
