1. Computations Management
There are two types of computation. First a nightly computation is automatically performed by the Portal on all enabled widgets. But it is also possible for administrators to launch manual compute on one or more widgets. All these computations could be tracked in the Computations Management widget which is below the widgets management.
1.1. Automatic computation
This automatic computation is scheduled by default at 1 am local time, all enabled widgets are used. In a classic computation, only the last day is computed but it could have some other cases. For a new widget, it will compute the number of days configured, by default the widget will be computed on the full period.
1.2. Manual computation
The manual computation is available through widgets management or from module, dashboard and widgets tools menu.
In the widgets management, the widgets to compute should be first selected, only enabled widget will be computed. Then the configuration of the computation should be set using a wizard. Depending on the type of widgets selected the wizard could vary.
For a large majority of widgets, no configuration is needed since only the last date could be computed. The dialog displays on which date the computation will be done.
For SLA, dates to compute could be configured.
There is an option, common for all, which permits to overwrite the computed data.
1.3. Track all computations
The widget permits to display all computations for a period of time, by default it displays the computations of the current day.
Both manual an automatic computations are displayed. By default all computations are displayed but results could be filtered by owner of computation (who initiate the compute).
There are 3 filter for owner
everybody all computations are displayed
myself only my computations are displayed
NEXThink Portal system (nightly) computations are displayed
The content is refreshed automatically each 10 seconds.
In the above picture the different computations displayed represent all status of a computation which are described later.
The widget permits to stop a scheduled or a running computation. A user can stop only its own computations except central administrators who can stop all computations. If a computation has been stopped during its execution, only completed results are kept. It means that if a date has been fully computed results for this date are saved.
Details of all completed (and canceled) computations could be displayed using the information button. All completed and failed widgets are displayed by date.
1.3.1. Scheduled
When a computation is scheduled it means that the operation has been submited and put in the queue. It means that a computation is currently performed. There is no details about progress, time and duration but it could be canceled.
1.3.2. Running
The computation is actually performed. The start time is available and the progression too. The computation is cancellable
1.3.3. Completed (success)
All widgets have been computed without error. Details are all available and info about the computed widgets is available
1.3.4. Completed (failure)
There is an error during the compute, some widgets could be computed correctly but at least one error occurs. Details are available to show which are the completed and failed widgets
1.3.5. Canceled
The computation has been manually canceled. Some widgets could be anyway completed, details are available to give the list. In this case failed widgets could be in this list due to an error or only because they have been not executed
1.4. Track automatic computations
A second mode is available in the widget. The toolbar permits to switch from all computations to automatic computations.
This mode displays only automatic computations and permits to see the evolution through the time.
Moving the mouse over the chart permits to see the value for a particular date.
There are 5 different values. The first one is the duration of the computation.
It is important to note that if an error happens during the automatic computation then multiple attempts are performed. In the first mode, all attempts are displayed individually but in this mode the attempts are aggregated to have only one automatic computation per day. Therefore the duration is the sum of all attempts
The second value is the number of operations performed. It aims to represent the load of works for the computations. An operation corresponds to the number of widgets * number of days to compute. Skipped widgets are not counted. The value is useful to explain differences in duration from a day to another.
The third one is the number of attempts to complete the computation. The number of operations and the number of attempts permits to explain the duration.
The next one is the number of widgets successfully computed. A widget is successfully computed if all the days have been correctly computed even if it needs multiple attempts to achieve it.
The last value is the number of widgets unsuccessfully computed. A widget is unsuccessfully compute if after all attempts at least one day could not be computed. In the details the last attempt contains this value.
Clicking on the info button permits to display details for the computation.
1.5. Computation details
The list of widgets with their status is displayed. All computations are displayed in the table but in details only widgets corresponding to the administration domain are displayed. If the administrator can not see the widget in the Widgets Management widget then he could not see the widget here. A note under the list gives the number of hidden widgets.
Note that the dialog is the same when details are displayed from first mode or from automatic computations. In automatic computations it is possible to navigate in the date directly from the details and if there is multiple attempt a selector permits to choose the attempt.
The main table permits to display the duration for each widget for each date and the status of the operation. There are 4 options in the list to display.
- Completed (contains all completed widgets, success or not but not the skipped ones)
- Skipped
- Successful
- Unsuccessful
For unsuccessful widgets, it is possible to click on the icon to display the error which stop the computation.
