Description

With two dedicated Nexthink Act remote actions, manage applications on devices using Microsoft Software Installer. Useful for remote application management of endpoints.

Script Description

ADVANCED SCRIPT Installs applications using Microsoft Software Installer. The script is designed for Windows 10 and 7.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script manually as local system.

Parameters

ID Label Description
1 AbsoluteInstallerPath Absolute local path or UNC path of the installer
2 InstallerHash Provide a hash to compare with the obtained from the installer
3 CheckInstallerSignature Whether the installer signature must be checked or not
4 MaximumDelayInSeconds Maximum random delay set to avoid network overload. Provide number of seconds lower than 60

Outputs

None.

Further Information

The installer path could be a UNC path with read access. "The MSI error codes are documented here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/Msi/error-codes". If 'CheckInstallerSignature' parameter is activated and the installer does not have a valid signature, the installation process will not be done. If the application is already installed, then it might be re-installed. Some user settings or application data could be lost.

Restrictions

  • Limited to applications with fully compliant MSI installers. Otherwise, the remote action (and hence the installation process) could fail.

Further Information

As parameter for this script, type in the full name of the application as it is displayed on Programs and Features menu in Control Panel.
